Winkelplein Kort Ambacht, located in the Kort Ambacht neighborhood of Zwijndrecht, is set to undergo a major transformation. Last Tuesday, the council approved the plans developed by NEOO in collaboration with N-architecten, the municipality, the owner, and local retailers.
The shopping center, which in recent years has faced rising vacancy rates and increasing neglect, will be fully renovated and redeveloped. Currently characterized by an elongated layout and numerous kiosks, the center will be made more compact under the new plans and enhanced with a second supermarket to strengthen its position as Kort Ambacht’s neighborhood shopping hub.
Alderman Tycho Jansen (Economy) commented on the expansion and renovation: “We are pleased that, after years of decline, the area can now begin to move forward again. The municipality is happy to contribute by also investing in the public space.”
Arjen Seckel, partner at NEOO, added: “It has been a long and complex process involving numerous acquisitions and relocations. We are delighted that the municipality has now given the green light, enabling us to begin this much-needed revitalization of the center soon.”
