On Monday, September 1, the official groundbreaking ceremony for Nimwest in Nijmegen took place. The start of construction was celebrated in the presence of Mona Keijzer (outgoing Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning), Noël Vergunst (Alderman of the Municipality of Nijmegen), Erik Esveld (Van Herk Groep), Bertil Poelman (Koopmans Bouwgroep), and Cyrille Duchateau (NEOO).
Nimwest is an ambitious inner-city redevelopment located on the west side of Nijmegen Central Station, on the former UWV site. The plan features a high-quality urban mix comprising 452 residential units, 154 short-stay apartments, commercial spaces for hospitality and retail, and 121 parking spaces.
The project is being developed by NEOO on behalf of Van Herk Groep, based on a design by WRK Architects. Construction is being carried out by Koopmans Bouwgroep, with completion scheduled for 2028.
