AIR, the redevelopment of the former V&D in the heart of Rotterdam, has been nominated for the Kern Jaarprijs 2025.
Where once stood a closed department store, a vibrant and sustainable mixed-use destination has now risen. AIR houses Unilever, Spaces, C&A, Jumbo, restaurants and a municipal bicycle parking facility, among others.
The nomination recognizes this ambitious and sustainable transformation of an A1 retail location into a multifunctional building. It is an example of how inner-city densification, sustainability and reuse come together in one location.
