The development combination NEOO and TBI company Koopmans Bouwgroep recently signed a reservation agreement with the municipality of Nieuwegein for the development of the Doorslagzone with approximately 450 homes, a mixed-use plinth and parking garage. The housing program will consist of a mix of rental housing and free sector owner-occupied housing.
Vibrant mix of homes and new place to enjoy
Between City Hall and City Boulevard lies the Doorslag zone. This location offers opportunities for housing and additional center facilities. The high quality of the new city center will also be implemented here. There will be a mix of social and free-sector rental housing and free-sector owner-occupied housing, a mixed-use plinth and a parking garage. In short, the Doorslagzone must become an attractive place to live, work or relax. A place with quality, atmosphere and conviviality. Architectenbureau Rijnboutt from Amsterdam is responsible for the concept design.
Sander van Oss (NEOO): ‘This new high-quality plan brings the completion of the eastern part of the downtown a big step closer. The plan includes a varied range of homes with beautiful views over the Doorslag. At the heart of the plan will be a new meeting place: a small square where you can enjoy the sun on the terrace while watching the boats pass by.’
Councilman Hans Adriani: ‘In Nieuwegein’s city center, we strive for a pleasant combination of living, working and staying. NEOO’s plans meet a need for apartments and additional facilities in the city center. We welcome this next step to strengthen and enliven downtown.”
