A few months after completion, the public realm is now also being further greened by City Nieuwegein. It is great to see how our green courtyard garden will soon connect seamlessly to an increasingly greener city centre.

Work on Phase 1 around CityPromenade will commence shortly. For Phase 2, the first designs have now been presented by City Nieuwegein, as shown in the accompanying impressions. We look forward to the realization..

The project, developed by NEOO and Koopmans Bouwgroep, offers an inclusive mix of social housing, mid-rent homes, private-sector rentals and owner-occupied apartments. Designed by Rijnboutt, it features nature-inclusive rooftop gardens, waterfront hospitality venues, and a green central courtyard.

During the handover, NEOO and Koopmans presented a donation to @Stichting Proxima as a gesture of their commitment to the city.

For one evening, Capital C was renamed our own NEOO venue Capital N. With a walking dinner and performances by singer and presenter Nicola Ebbink, mindF#cker Victor Mids and DJs Sheila Hill & Nadia Palesa, the evening was festive.

Nimwest is an ambitious inner-city redevelopment project on the west side of Nijmegen station at the former UWV site. The plan provides for a high-quality urban mix with 452 homes, 154 short-stay apartments, commercial spaces for hospitality and retail, and 121 parking spaces.

The project is being developed by NEOO on behalf of Van Herk Group and designed by WRK Architects. The realization is in the hands of Koopmans Bouwgroep. Completion is scheduled for 2028.

We kicked off the afternoon with a visit to our own project: Aalmarkt 22, the redevelopment of the monumental former V&D building. We’re transforming this iconic building into a lively, sustainable, and multifunctional space where people can work, shop, exercise, eat, and sleep. The permits for the renovation will be submitted soon.

After this inspiring start, we took a boat trip through the canals of Leiden to the Meelfabriek—a unique redevelopment project that is nearing completion after years of vision and perseverance. There, owner, developing contractor, and industrial heritage enthusiast Ab van der Wiel, along with colleague Patty Beuk and project architect Bart Akkerhuis of the Paris-based firm STUDIO AKKERHUIS | ARCHITECTS, gave us a guided tour explaining the transformation process of this fantastic and impressive industrial heritage site. Beyond the beautiful buildings, we were also impressed by the stunning inner garden designed by Piet Oudolf.

The day ended with another canal cruise and a summery dinner by the water.

Westminster is part of the Hyde Park area development, where former office buildings are making way for a high-quality, lively and sustainable residential neighborhood. At the location on Jupiterstraat (the future Dudokstraat), a closed building block with nine apartment buildings will rise, the ‘Hoofddorp Houses’.

NEOO, commissioned by Van Herk Groep, is developing four of these buildings, to a design by Vision Architecture, good for 198 rental apartments, 60 percent of which are in the affordable segment, two commercial spaces and facilities for car and bicycle parking. Construction will be handled by contractor KBM Group and completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2028.
